Even if the '|' is added before 'iz', this won't work on it's own. There has to be something after, i.e. '$' or '/'. If you run this regex on "travel", you would only match "tr" because of the way it is ordered.

The very problem is in that slice:
b(?:[abdefghijmnorstvwyz]iz)
it looks like it should be
b(?:[abdefghijmnorstvwyz]|iz)

it looks like it should be
b(?:[abdefghijmnorstvwyz]|iz)
